Educational Goals

Our game takes an approach where players learn through the environment and iterating with it as well as through action packed gameplay.
Through the new & exciting environment of Mars, kids can explore basic scientific concepts like magnetism and gravity. Our minigames are based on actual techniques Mars rovers use to interact with their environment, and exploring the map exposes the kids to the planet's geological features.

The minigames teach scientific concepts that are based on real-life experiments conducted on Mars, while these concepts: molecular structures, gravity, and magnetism, are theoretical principles relevant on Earth too. These scientific experiments on Mars are rooted in concepts that students can observe in their everyday lives, serving as an inspiration for what can be done.

The MacDonough School has regular two-month Project-Based Learning modules as part of their curriculum, one being set on Mars for fifth graders. Sol complements this part of their curriculum very well, being an engaging way for students to better understand Mars and its environment that can be a part of students’ research into Mars for their project.
